Newson was recruited to the Phoenix metropolitan area from Columbus, Indiana where he served as C.E.O. of Koala Hospital and Counseling Centers by Samaritan Health Systems now (Banner Health) in 1993 serving as Systems Director of Behavioral Health. Newson also served as Vice President at Grand Canyon University: Reverend Newson is a ordain minister and has served as Senior Pastor, Assistant Pastor and Executive Pastor of several denominational and non-denominational multicultural churches. Newson has developed and facilitated spirituality groups/programs for psychiatric hospitals and churches. Newson believes in a holistic approach to wellness and recovery.
Newson has completed advance urban studies in Africa and England. Newson was invited by the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government to attend, “Innovations in Health Care Conference” sponsored by Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Primary Health Care, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Ford Foundation.
